Inspired By A Song Blog Hop - 7 April

Hello and welcome to the Inspired By A Song Blog Hop!

This is gonna be a good one!  Music is such a good remedy in our busy lives.  Whether we're singing in the shower, in the car, doing kareoke or just watching TV or the radio and hearing a good song, it's so good and just seems to make things better!

Anyway, enough of my blethering!  Time for the important details!

So, in this Inspired By A Song blog hop, I have made a card for my friends wee boy who will be 3 in May.

I'll let you see the card first, and then see if you can guess what the song is!  So here are some photos of my card.  Apologies for the funny lines, there's holographic areas on the card which seems to catch the light, and I had to use the flash which didn't help matters!

So, can you guess what the song is?  Yep, it's "Rocket Man" by Elton John.  I really like Elton John and think he is so talented.  I was lucky enough to see him in concert in July 2007 when he came to the Highland capital, Inverness.  It was an amazing night!.

CBGM - Colour Inspiration Challenge - 7 April

The specification of this challenge is to create a card project which follows the given colour theme.  This weeks theme is to use citrus colours:

It's such a bright and cheery colour theme which can be used for any occasion.

I decided to use the new Hunky Dory "Adorable Scorable" kit I bought recently.

To make this card, I used the following:

3B's Challenge

Just made this thank you card for my Mum.  She works in the financial sector and has been in the same branch for 38years!  She's leaving this branch though and is starting in another one on Monday.  She's looking forward to having better hours, but is sorry to be leaving the branch where she gets on so well with the other staff and where she knows her customers.

She asked me to make this card for one of her colleagues.  She and this lady work twice a week together in a sub-branch.  They're really close friends so wanted to say thank you for everything she has done.

So here it is!

To make this card, I used the following materials:

Crafty Trip To SECC

Wow!  What a day!  On Friday,  I had the pleasure of going to the Hobbycrafts show at the SECC in Glasgow with my friend Gill McCall and another lady, Cynthia.

We left at Inverness just after 6am, which meant I had to be up at 4.30, to leave my house at 5.30 to get up to Inverness in time.  So it was a really early start!  We had a nice trip down the road, thankfully there weren't any numpties on the road!!

Once we got to the SECC at 9.30, we got a take-away hot chocolate and headed into the main hall.

A tradition Gill has started is to make a batch of home made Scottish tablet for Anthony and Paul at the Princess Pinflair stand.  They love it.....and so do I!  It's so yummy!  Full of sugar....but delicious!  So with a jar full of tablet weighing down the shopping bags, we headed to the Pinflair stand.....and ended up staying for nearly an hour!!  It was lovely to catch up with Anthony and Paul and to have a good wander.  Spent a few pennies there too!

Now that Gill's bag was lighter from the tablet (thankfully the boys offered to keep Gills shopping until we were leaving as it was so heavy with all the glue she was buying!)  we were ready to have a good wander and spend our well earned money on fabby crafting goodies!!

We shopped till we were about to drop, which was lunch time!  So we went back to the car to drop off our shopping and to have lunch.  Once we were sufficiently re-hydrated and rested, we headed back into the SECC and went round the smaller hall which had the knitting, cross stitch, fabrics and jewellery making stalls.  After a brisk wander round there, we headed back into the large hall with the cardmaking stalls and continued our shopping expedition.  Come 5pm, we were shopped out and our purses were empty....well and truly empty!!

Back to the car we went and sorted out all our shopping bags so we could actually get into the car!  A quick bite to eat, courtesy of Cynthia (you could tell she was a Mum...a whole picnic including napkins, wipes, cutlery, cakes yogurts and so much more were waiting for us!  So kind of her!) and then we headed back up the road to Inverness.

We got back about 9.30 so it certainly was a full day of fun!  We're only sorry that we couldn't stay over the night before.  It's a long drive, and a long day for going down and back in the one day.  Hopefully we'll be able to arrange something for the next show in October!

The specification of this challenge is to create a card project that is an unusual shape and is dimensional.  So that's something to really think about!

Giving dimension to a handmade card makes it stand out more from other shop bought cards.  The use of silicone glue and 3D foam is a common and very effective way of providing dimension in a card.  You just have to remember that when sending it through the post as Mr Postman often adds on the postage costs and is also known to squeeze them through the smallest of slots and post boxes!!

It's such an unusual card!  Obviously I've made easel cards in the past, but not this kind of easel!! 

It was my Mums birthday on the 29th of January and she loved the card!  Oh, by the way, I wrote on the back of the main image, or the "canvas" part!

Love Me Love My...........Blog Hop - 10 Feb

I LOVE making lists!  Things To Do, Packing Lists, Shopping Lists, any kind of list!  I've got Things To Do Pads, check lists, sticky notes...everything you could need!

So, if you love me, you have to love my lists too!

The photo used in this card was taken by a family friend, Joe MacRae.  He is such a fantastic photographer and you can visit his website here:  Joe MacRae Website.  The photo is taken in a local woods.  The bridge is so overgrown with moss, weeds, grass and fir.  It's stunning.
