DESIGN TEAM BLOG HOP - BIRTHDAY THEME

Welcome Everyone!

I am lucky enough to be part of a Design Team (Creations By Gill M) which is taking part in a Design Team Blog Hop.  Click the link above to see our entries to this challenge - they're great, if I do say so myself!!There are also a number of other great design teams from around the world taking part in this hop which is being hosted by Dee at Vintage Heart Felt Designs.   You can take part in the blog hop by starting at Dee's Blog.  It's going to be so much fun!

The blog hop has a theme - Birthdays!  Always such a fun time, no matter who's birthday it is!  So our challenge was to make something, anything, with a birthday theme!!

This is what I made for the challenge:

It's an A5 landscape stepper card from a Butterfly Jewels Amethyst Collection from Hunkydory.

I used a sheet of the A4 patterned card and folded it in half.  I cut half way down the score line, scored and folded inwards the piece of card to make a stepper card.  On the back of the stepper, I attached one of the toppers from the pack and decorated it with small clear adhesive gems.  I then used a Quickie Glue Pen to attach clear and purple gems to the butterflies on the front of the card.  Using 3d foam, I attached two die cut butterflies to the front of the side stepper and decorated with clear adhesive gems.  To finish the card, I used 3d foam to attach two sentiments (Dear Friend and Wishing You A Happy Birthday) to the top left hand corner of the card.  I also threaded a piece of purple ribbon through the tag sentiment.

I gave this card to a special friend of mine for her birthday and she loved it!  Hopefully you will love it too!

Remember you can take part in the blog hop, just hop on over to Dee's Blog and take it from there!

Remember to leave comments for each design team member.  Enjoy hopping!!!

CBGM - BEACH THEME SKETCH CHALLENGE

Hiya!

Hope you're enjoying the summer weather so far!?!

This weeks challenge is to follow a sketch with a beach theme.  Something to get us into the summer mood!!

I made this card for my best friend, Lyndsey.  She LOVES Ariel and the The Little Mermaid.  She even has a Little Mermaid dress!

To make this A4 card, I covered the front with blue and yellow card.  I used shaping scissors to shape the edge of the blue and yellow card.  I then used an actual birthday card I saw in a shop ages ago.  I cut the card in half and attached it to the left hand side of the card.  I used a blue Promarker pen to draw some waves on the blue card and then used 3 star fish shapes on the bottom right hand side of the card.

I also used two The Little Mermaid embellishments to decorate the card.  I printed a picture of Scully, the seagull from the film, cut him out and attached in the sky.  I used a scallop punch with yellow card to make a sun and then used another pair of shaping scissors to make a small cloud.  I shaded this in with a silver ink pad. (not sure of the make).  To finish off, I used a Happy Birthday peel off on the yellow sun.

So that is my project for this current challenge.  Pop along to Gill McCall's Blog and see the other beach scene creations from the design team.  They're fantastic!

You can also take part in this challenge, just fill in the Mr Linky on Gills Blog and post your creation on your blog.  You can get some fantastic feedback from other crafters which can really boost your confidence.   So give it a go!  And don't forget to leave feedback for me and the rest of the design team!

Thank you, take care,

Lisa xxxx

Cards and Projects For Upcoming Gala

Hi Everyone

Thought you may like to see some of the things I've been making for the upcoming village gala.  I've been asked if I would like a stall to sell my cards at.  Obviously I jumped at the chance!

I just have to try and make the cards more exciting in some way.  There could be other people selling cards at the gala, so obviously I want mine to stand out.

Would love to hear what you think!

Hard To Get Motivated....

Hiya

How are you all?

Trying to get motivated to do more crafting today, but it's working out really hard to get motivated.  For a couple of reasons:

1)  I've got the cold and it's gone straight to my head today so I'm feeling really fuzzy and stuffy!
2)  I haven't done any cards for quite a few days
3)  I found out this morning that a really close friend has suffered a miscarriage.  It's so sad.  Fortunately she was just a few weeks gone but obviously it's an awful thing to happen at any time.  She's coping very well though and understands that it happened for a reason.  Hopefully they'll be able to try again soon.

So that's me.  Really need to get going with the cards I'm making for the gala in August.  It's about 4 weeks away now, on Aug 21st so not long.

Can you send me motivational wishes to get me going?

Ta muchly!

CBGM - SUMMER HOLIDAY THEME

Hiya Everyone!

Hope you're all well and enjoying the summery weather?!

This challenge is for a Summer Holiday scrapbook page.  It can be a holiday you've been on, or one you want to go on.   We all have so many memories of summer holidays from our childhood and more recent too!

For this challenge, I've used 5 pages from an 8x8 scrapbook I made from my last, and most recent summer holiday.  I went away at the end of September 2009 with my best friend Lyndsey to Albufeira, in the Algarve, Portugal.  We've been away together a few times before, but this is the most recent time.  She's getting married next year, so this was probably the last time we'd go away with each other.

Here are the pages I've created:

To make the pages, i used a selection of photos taken by myself on the holiday.  I matt and layered the photos on plain cardstock I had in my craft supplies.  To decorate each page, I used embellishments from a scrapbook set I was given.  The 8x8 scrapbook pages are also from the same set.  I love them because they're all so bright, colourful and summery.  I used my X Cut cutting system to cut shapes for the pages, along with a corner punch and shaping scissors.    I also used my Cuttlebug die cutter along with some Sizzix dies to cut out the letters for "Portugal" as well as the flower shapes and bikini.

If you would like to have a go, why not have a look at the other design team's creations.  There's a guest designer for this challenge, Debbie.  I recommend you pop by her blogand see her summer holiday themed project.  Then, pop by Gill McCall's blog, she's the host of this challenge and you can view the other designers projects and pop into their blogs too!

Have fun, can't wait to see what you all create!

FOR THE LOVE OF PINK BLOG HOP - JULY 1st 2011

IT'S PINK DAY!!  WOOHOOO!

Welcome to the For The Love of Pink Blog Hop in aid of Gill McCall's birthday!  (Happy Birthday Gill!)

There are so many great crafters taking part in todays blog hop, I hope you hop into all their blogs and see their fantastic creations!

The purpose of this blog hop is to introduce you to other like-minded crafters around the world.  Not only do you get to make new crafty friends, but you can also get lots of inspiration, advice and support.

You should have got to my blog by coming from Jenn P's blog.  If not, hop along to Gill McCalls's blog, she is hosting this fabulous pink blog hop and you can find out more about the event from there.

So, to take part in the blog hop, you have to make something PINK!  Surprise surprise!  Both Gill and I love pink things, so it wasn't difficult to make something for this hop.

I decided to make this card:

To make this card, i used A4 white card stock and made a gatefold card.  I covered the front gates with black and pink card, leaving a narrow border around each.  I used 3D foam to attach both the pink and black card.  I used a Debbi Moore CD (Pretty In Pink) to print out the black and pink patterned paper and then attached with dssst.    I used a piece of pink ribbon, stuck to the back of the card and to the left hand side.  For the main image, I cut out a cupcake shape from a Papermania template.  I cut the icing part out on pink card and covered with glossy accents.  For the cupcake case, I scored a piece of black card and attached to the cupcake shape with pinflair glue.  Once the glossy accent was set, I coloured pieces of card candy with brown Pro-Markers and attached them to the icing.

To complete the card, I attached clear adhesive gems on each corner of the card.  I also matt and layered black and pink card together and used a silver Happy Birthday peel off.  I then attached these with 3d foam to the top left and bottom right hand corners of the card.  I tied the pink ribbon to keep the gate fold card closed.  (Sorry the photo's a bit dark.)

So now it's time to see what Linda has to offer in the For The Love Of Pink blog hop.  Make sure you hop around all the participants blogs, there's some fab creations to be seen!

Thanks for hopping by.  Please leave me a comment, I love to get feedback.  And remember to hop by all the participants!

Take care,

Lisa xx
