Magic Number......So far anyway!

Hiya everyone.

What a productive weekend I've had!  It's been great!

As I've said previously, I'm in the process of making cards for a local Spring Fayre on Saturday 2nd April.  It's being held in Conon Bridge Primary School, Conon Bridge, to raise funds for the school.  Those selling things pay a small fee for the table and then any profit they make is their own.

So, in total, I have 96 cards made!  I've never had that many cards made at one time EVER!!  So I'm really chuffed.  They're not fancy, intricate or very special, but I'm happy with them.  I'm going to carry on making more cards over the next few days, not that I'm expecting to sell them all!  But it's good to have a supply!

So far I've got men's, women's, get well, new home, thank you, children's, Easter, mothers day, baby boy, congratulations and good luck.  I'm hoping to make anniversary, sympathy, baby girl, engagement, wedding day and miscellaneous.

All the cards are either A6 or 5" square and I'm going to be selling them for £1 each.  So fingers crossed!

Once I've finished making the cards, I'll take some photos of them by themselves, in the display stand/baskets I'm going to be using and hopefully some photos of the table on the day.

I'm actually going to be sharing my table with a close friend.  She has coeliac disease, so can't eat wheat or gluten.  She's going to be making gluten free foods such as tablet, muffins, cakes and also some jams.  She makes one called cinnanna jam!  It's banana and cinnamon jam.  Sounds weird, but actually tastes not too bad!!  (if you fancy trying some, just get in touch with me and I'll arrange it, not sure how much she is charging for it.)

So that's my story for the moment, my magic number is 96!  If I post random numbers on my blog, you'll know what I mean!

Night night everyone, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

CBGM - CHALLENGE - ANIMAL/BIRD/PET SCRAPBOOK PAGE

Good morning everyone!  Well this is my first challenge at the age of 26!  Weird saying that!  Had a lovely birthday and was spoilt rotten!  It was very strange and hard at times though as it was my first birthday, and first family get-together without our family dog, Jack, who we sadly and suddenly lost on March 5th.  My sister found it particualary hard, and has been finding it hard ever since it happened.  She's used to saying "this is from me and Jack" when giving me my present, and this time, unfortunately, it was just from her.  I knew he wasn't far away though and if he had been there, he would have been ripping the wrapping paper to shreds!

Anyway, this challenge was going to be of Jack, but unfortunately, things are still a bit too fresh at the moment, so I chose the Shetland Ponies in my village to do my scrapbook page on.  I show the ponies at the local agricultural shows in our areas and have done for the last 15 years or so.

To make the scrapbook page, I used a Bassil Basics 12x12 piece of paper in an ivory colour.  For the heading of the page, I used my Cuttlebug and an alphabet set (unsure of the name) on black card to write out "Stow Shetland Stud".

I used 3 strips of silver peels offs on either side of the paper at different levels.  Using my X Cut Cutting system, I cut 3 medium ovals on black card and paper (ran out of card so had to use paper, which didn't cut well with the cutting oval, so please excuse the bumpy edges on one of the ovals!).  I also used the cutting system to cut my 3 photos.  I have used photos of the head of the stud, Victoria, her grand-daughter Velveteena and her great grand-daughter, Rosie.  These were then attached with double sided sticky tape to the black ovals which then in turn were positioned at angles around the page, obviously with Victoria, the matriarch at the top of the page!  I decorated each of the ovals with silver peel offs, spelling out the names of the ponies shown and embelleshed them with adhesive gems.

I used a wide piece of black satin ribbon and attached it to the bottom of the page, leaving a narrow boarder.  I also made a small black bow using the satin and attached it using PVA glue on the bottom right hand corner of the ribbon.

Following the "5 W's" rule - where, what, who, why and when, I typed out some info about the page and matt and layered onto black and silver card, using a pair of Fiskars shaping scirrors to give a jagged edge on the card.

To finish the project, I attached two silver horse shoes on the page.

This was a really fun challenge to take part in, my first scrapbook challenge!  If you fancy doing it, please go to: http://creationsbygillm.blogspot.com/2011/03/cbgm-blog-challenge-4-pets.html

Good afternoon everyone!

Hope you're all doing well on this Tuesday afternoon (or any other day depending on where in the world you are!)

Have had an amazing weekend!  I went to Glasgow on Friday to see Boyzone on Saturday night at the SECC.  It was fantastic!  I've been to every concert they've done.  So, I would say that's about 16 now?!  Not sure, keep getting confused between Boyzone and Westlife, who I'm going to see this weekend, again in Glasgow, and who I've also seen every time they've toured!  A very busy time this year for concerts!  I've just been to Boyzone, Westlife this weekend, then I've got Peter Kay (comedian), Jason Manford (comedian), Take That, JLS/Olly Murs and now, Boyzone have just announced that they're going to be performing in INVERNESS - just 10miles away from me in August!!!  Can't wait!  My sister say's she's going to send me the bill to get her bedroom door fixed because I took it off the hinges when I went through to tell her! heheh.

Anyway, a great weekend away, including a trip to Millers Craft Shop in Glasgow, where I bought some nice goodies for crafting.

I've been asked to take part in a local Spring Fayre on the 2nd of April to sell my cards.  So I've been busy crafting for that.  Still got a lot to do though, and I'm running out of time!  So I better get cracking!

Will try and get some photos posted on here of what I've been making.

Also got to get a grip of the Design Team challenegs I'm involved in.

Find another part time job is a task too!

Everyone's got their own things to do, problems, worries etc so enough of my complaining!!

Have a good day everyone, whatever you get up to.  I'm heading off shortly to see some close friends and get some photos for a forthcoming challenge......more info to follow!  Watch this space!

Love and hugs

CBGMDT SPRING SKETCH

SPRING SKETCH
I cut an A4 white card to 14cm x 29cm and scored approx 10.5cm along from the left hand side of the card.  Using 2 sheets of 6x6 light green patterned paper, I covered half of the back of the card and all of the front of the card using d.s.s.t.
I cut a narrow strip of pale pink shimmer card and attached them horizontally with d.s.s.t to each side of the card.  I chose a Sugar Nellie stamped image (courtesy of http://karenscards.blogspot.com/) and coloured it in with a small selection of Pro markers.  Unfortunately I don’t have a Blender Pen in my pr marker collection.....yet!  So there’s not much blending or shading in this project!
I matt and layered the stamped image onto lime green and purple card and attached it to the right hand side (back) of the card.  I stamped my sentiment (Have a bloomin’ great day) using a lilac ink pad on plain white cardstock and rounded each corner with a corner punch.  I then matt and layered the sentiment on the green and purple card, which were also rounded at the corners.
To finish the card, I applied 4 pink adhesive gems, one on each corner and a thin piece of pink ribbed ribbon down the left hand side of the card.  Pink and green flower embellishments were positioned just under the sentiment.
