CBGM - BLUE & LILAC CHRISTMAS

1 MORE SLEEP!!!  YAY!!!!  IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE!!!

Hope you're all organised and ready for the Big Day!!  It always make me laugh when I think about the amount of time, effort and money that is put into Christmas, which is just 1 day of the year!  You'd think the world is ending with the amount of food and drink people are buying!

Anyway, with just 1 day until Christmas, it's time for a new, and the last challenge of 2011 from Creations By Gill M.  This weeks challenge is to use blue and lilac in a Christmas card.

Here is my card:

To make this card I used a scallop edged card and made it into a twisted easel.  I covered the front and base of the card using two coloured backing papers.  The lilac 1 was from a Fizzy Moon Christmas paper pack and the other was from my own crafty stash.  I decorated the backing paper with adhesive gems and a silver bow which I made from Christmas ribbon.  I used a Stampendous stamp of a snowman couple with a blue pigment ink and coloured them in with various Promarkers.  I used Crystal Stickels to accent certain parts of the snowmen which gave a nice glittery effect to the image.  I inked the edges of the white card then matt and layered the stamped image onto blue card.  This was then attached to the front of the card and decorated with more adhesive gems.  I printed a sentiment to use and matt and layered it onto purple and silver card then attached it to the base of the card.

I've done quite a few card orders this year for Christmas, hope everyone likes them!  This one was for my friends Mum and Dad.

CBGMDT - RED & GREEN CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE

BBBBBRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!  Chilly or what?!?!

Hope you're all keeping warm, dry and safe in this horrible weather!  The wind on Thursday night was unbelievable.  The bus ride home was the scariest one in my life, with bad flooding, gale force winds, snow and ice.....it was a horrible experience and I was so glad to get home into a nice cosy house and a hot bath my Mum had ran for me!  Awwww!!


You could take part in this weeks challenge from Creations By Gill M.  It's a Christmas themed challenge, using red and green colours.....nice and easy for a Christmas theme! So here is what I made!  It's a card my friend Karen has asked for, so I hope she likes it!

I used a Craftwork Cards Elegant Square white card blank and covered the base with matt and layered red and green card.  I scored a diagonal line on the front of the card and then using 1/2 of another elegant square  card blank, I attached it to the bottom scored area on the main card,.

I covered the front with the same shade of red card and a square of patterned green, red and white Christmas paper (from a DCWV pack I think).

I cut a smaller piece of green card and a piece of red and white Christmas paper from a Fizzy Moon paper pack and matt and layered this on the left hand side of the card.

I then used a scallop punch and cut out 2 scallops on green card and attached these to the front of the card using double sided sticky tape.  I built up a Fizzy Moon pyramage image and attached this in the centre.  I decorated the green scallops with a silver peel off borders and red adhesive stones.  

I then decorated the base of the card with a piece of green card (edged with a white ink pad), with a sentiment attached on the top.  This was attached with 3D foam.  To finish it off, I used green adhesive gems and red Stickles on various areas of the card.

Well I hope you like it. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

CBGM CHALLENGE - RECYCLING

Wow oh wow!  What a windy week we've been having!  And this weekend looks to be no different!

So that means it's a good weekend for crafting!!!!  You could take part in this weeks challenge from Creations By Gill M.  It's a recycling challenge, so have a look through your crafty stash, and see what you've collected in the past thinking...yeah, I can use that for crafting!  I've got loads of that kind of thing, and I've got to say, the thing I seem to recycle the most, is the ribbon you get on a piece of clothing to hang them up on a hanger...you know the annoying bits that always slip out of your top?!  Yeah, well I collect them!  But not on purpose! lol.  So, if you'd like to take part in the challenge, go to Creations By Gill M, fill in the Mr Linky with your details, post your creation on your blog and link it back to the Creations By Gill M blog.  Remember you have to be a follower of Creations By Gill M's blog and it would be great if you could become a follower of my blog too.

So, to my creation!  I have made a wedding card for my friend Claire and her new husband Chris.  Claire loves anything black and anything white.  So I made a black and white wedding card!  It's quite different for a wedding card, but I knew that a card with colour wouldn't go down as well as this one hopefully would!

I recycled 2 items which were used in this card:

• The black satin ribbon came from a pyjama set.  The ribbon was wrapped around the pyjamas to hold them together when they were folded.
• The main image was my Mum and Dads wedding invitation!  It was originally an A5 folded sheet which I cut down to size.  They are celebrating their 31st anniversary on the 6th of December so this card is 31 years old!!  Well, part of it is!!

So this is it:

I made this A4 gatefold card using white card.  I covered each part of the gate with a black and silver floral design card, leaving a small border around each side.  I then attached a wide piece of black satin ribbon around the back and the front left side of the card using strong double sided tape.  For the main image from my Mum and Dads wedding invitation, I cut the image down to size and matt and layered it onto black and white card.  I attached the completed matt and layered image to part of the left hand side of the gate fold.  I then tied a bow with the black satin ribbon and attached a white pearl heard to the left hand side of the card and small black adhesive gems to the main image.

And that's it!  Likewise when you're using up bits of scraps in your crafty stash, it's great to be able to use up bits and pieces you've collected for recycling.

I'm so looking forward to seeing what you've made for this challenge, there's so many possibilities!!

My Favourite Things Blog Hop - 19th November 2011

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.  Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens.  Brown paper packages tied up with string....these are a few of my favourite things!"


They're not really my favourite things, but thought it was a good way to introduce you to my post for the "My Favourite Things" Blog Hop!

You should hopefully arrived here from Becky's Blog.  If not, then go to Gill's Blog to start from the beginning of the blog hop line up, and to get some more information about the hop.

The theme of the hop is "My Favourite Things".  Well what on earth do I chose for that?!  I have lots of favourite things!!!!  I eventually came to a decision of which of my favourite things to show you, and have actually combined two of them!!  Obviously, I LOVE shopping!  Whether it's clothes, bags, shoes, crafting, food, furniture....anything!  I love wandering round shops and buying bits and bobs, what ever I need!  I also really like the Sex And The City TV series and the films.  Mainly because it's set in New York......I LOVE NEW YORK!!!  I've never been to The Big Apple yet, but am saving to go for my 30th birthday!  The lights, the shops, the people, the sites, the atmosphere....everything.....I want to experience it all!!!  So, I decided to incorporate all 3 in my project!  I really hope you like it!

So here it is.............

I made this acetate easel card by cutting a piece of acetate to a 12 x 8 size, and then folding in half to make a 6x4 card blank.  I then folded on half in half again to make the easel.

I used the new Debbi Moore New York CD Rom as inspiration for this card.  From the CD Rom, I chose the black and white decoupage image with the Sarah Jessica Parker/Carrie look-a-likey in standing in front of the Statue of Liberty.  I cut out the main image, a border design and an oval sentiment.  I attached the border design and oval "Shopping Heaven" sentiment to the base of the acetate card with Pinflair glue gel** and also build up the decoupage image with the Pinflair glue. I then attached this part to the easel section of the card.  I embellished the card with two types of gold border peels offs around each edge of the card.

Using a brand new die set I bought at the recent craft fayre at the SECC in Glasgow (see HERE for some photos and stories of what we got up to on our trip to Glasgow!), I cut out a small shape which matched the shape of the decoupage image.  I cut this out on white shimmer card and attached it to the base of the card as a writing panel, stuck down again with Pinflair silicone glue gel**.

I completed the front of the card by using some gold stickles and gold adhesive gems on the main image.

To hide all the silicone glue I'd used on the acetate, I cut pieces of white shimmer card to appropriate sizes to attach to the bottom of the card and attached with silicone glue.

**extra time required for the silicone to set, so I placed some small, but heavy items on top so that the glue would adhere to the acetate.  I left it over night to make sure it did stick ok.

CBGM - MALE MONOCHROME CHALLENGE

Welcome back to my blog!

This weeks challenge from Creations By Gill M is to make a card for a man, using a monochrome theme (that's black and white to anyone unsure of what monochrome is).

So here is my card.  It was quite difficult choosing what kind of card to make for this challenge.  Men are always so difficult to design a card for!  Anyone else have problems with men?

I made a 6x6 card blank using diamond white card.  I cut a piece of football backing paper which came from a Papermania men's pack.  I think it was called "It's A Man's Life".  I left a narrow border around the edge of the card.  I then matt and layered black and white card on the card base in various sizes.  I then cut 3 footballs out from a football backing paper and attached to the left hand side of the card using silicone glue.  I applied more glue around the edges of the footballs to give more dimension and curve to the balls.  I then applied a "Happy Father's Day" silver peel off to the right hand side of the card.  To complete the card, I used flexi bend peel offs around the card and the the small white and black piece of card.  I also used 2 clear adhesive gems.....you always need some bling on a card!

I'm Quakers About You Blog Hop - 5th Nov 2011

Quack quackety quack quack quack!  That's duck for Hello and welcome to the I'm Quackers About You Blog Hop!

We've had some nice weather for the last week or so, but I'm just waiting for the rain to arrive!  I'm sure all the ducks in the area will be happy too when it arrives...They love the rain, don't they?!  But why don't they turn into sponges when it rains?!  Hmmm.....

Anyway!  Welcome to the hop hosted by Gill McCall at Creations By Gill M.  You should have arrived here from Linda's Blog .  If you haven't, and would like to paddle along the crafty river with us other duckies, then paddle to Gill McCall at Creations By Gill M where you can get all the details of the hop and start from the top!

So, for my first project, I made a door hanging for when you're relaxing in the bath!

To make this, I used images from Fee J Designs Quackers Galore CD Rom.  I printed the image off twice on Diamond White card which I bought from The Papeterie Mill, Bucksburn in Aberdeen.  I then cut them in a circular shape using my X Cut Cutting System.  I then cut a circle from purple card using the X Cut Cutting System and attached the duck images on either side of the purple card with pinflair glue.  I decorated both sides of the sign with varying sizes of purple adhesive gems.  I also used Crystal Stickles to decorate the bubbles on the image.  When left to dry, the stickles remained in a 3D shape and provided extra texture to the card.  I then used silver peel off alphabets and spelt out "Ssshhh!  I'm having a splash" !

To complete the card, I punched a hole at the top of the purple circle and threaded two pieces of purple ribbon through the hole.  This allows the sign to be hung from the bathroom door when you're relaxing in the bath!

This is my 2nd project which is a gift card holder.  To make this, I used my X Cut Cutting system again to cut an oval shape in purple card.  After printing a decoupage image from the Fee J Designs Quackers Galore CD Rom, I cut it out and built it up with pinflair glue.  I then attached the image to the purple card and then onto mirror board.  I decorated parts of the image with Crystal Stickles.  On the back of the card, I attached a small semi circle (cut with the Xcut set again!) with a little double sided sticky tape around the edge of it.  This allows a gift card to be placed inside.   To complete the card, I used a holographic "Happy Birthday" peel off on the back of the card.

I hope you like the creations I've made.  Something a bit different for this hop as I usually make cards!

CBGM - TRANSPORT CHALLENGE

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog.

I'm living away from home at the moment dogsitting for a friend, so I'm a wee bit behind with the post as I'm usually all pre-scheduled a couple of weeks in advance!  But I'm here now, the night before!  My card was actually made earlier on this week, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to upload it onto here until; now!

Courtesy of Creations By Gill M, this weeks challenge is to make something with a transport theme.

My cousin is in the Dingwall Gaelic Choir and is taking part in The Mod, which is a big music event.  She had to make her way over stormy seas on a ferry to Stornoway yesterday to take part, what a thought!  She got there safe though and I'm pleased to announce, that the Dingwall Gaelic Choir won the main group competition!  Such an achievement!  Anyway, I was thinking about her going on the ferry whilst making this card!

So, without further ado, here is my transport themed project:

It's a wee bit blurry, so apologies for that.

It's an A6 card, with the fold at the top of the card.  I covered the card with a navy shimmer card which I inked around the edges with a white Papermania ink pad.  This was attached with double sided tape.  I used the Forever Friends The Good Life Decoupage Pack to decorate the card and used Pinflair glue to build up the bear image.  The strip of spotty card along the bottom of the card and the circular boat paper is also from the pack.  I used my X Cut Cutting System to cut the circle for the boat paper and attached this with pinflair glue also.  I then cut out a small anchor from the pack and attached 4 blue adhesive gems on either side of a "happy birthday" embellishment which was attached with 3D foam.
